Actual output

The difference is spatial.

Conventional side scan presents acoustic returns on a flat surface. Omniscan 3D adds vertical-angle information so SonarView can place returns where they belong in three-dimensional space.

See it. Act on it.

From a sonar return to an actionable finding.

Paired with Omniscan 3D, SonarView creates an interactive view of the scene as you scan. Identify an object of interest in the water column, give the finding a name and category, record its coordinates, and measure distances between selected points.

SonarView selection of an object of interest in the water column
01 / Identify

Find what the camera misses.

Separate returns in the water column from the bottom and inspect them in spatial context.

SonarView labeled mark for an object of interest, with location coordinates
02 / Mark and log

Turn the sighting into a record.

Select and categorize a point of interest, label it, and retain its location coordinates for the next review or mission.

03 / Measure

Understand the surrounding space.

Measure distances between selected points or objects to assess a target area and inform the next step.

SonarView saves the collected information and supports export for further analysis.

SonarView is free to download and works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Docker. Explore SonarView

Signal to scene

Three stages. One continuous workflow.

Omniscan 3D captures high-resolution acoustic imagery, resolves each return vertically, and renders the result while the scan progresses.

01 / CAPTURE

Acquire the return

The side-scan transducer collects detailed acoustic imagery and slant range.

02 / RESOLVE

Locate it in 3D

The 16-channel receive array determines vertical-angle information for each return.

03 / RENDER

Build the scene

SonarView displays a true 3D bottom mesh and point cloud in real time.

System fit

Start with the mission.

The relevant comparison is mission sufficiency and total operational value—not specification parity for its own sake.

Coverage

Wide-swath shallow-water work where spatial context, deployment density, and cost efficiency matter.

Platform

Compact USV, MSV, ROV, AUV integrations that benefit from a single Ethernet connection.

Scale

Programs where multiple units, redundancy, persistence, or phased expansion create more operational value.
