Omnitrack USBL (Fall Draft)

The Cerulean flagship USBL solution for subsea positioning.

The Omnitrack Family

Omnitrack and ROVL products all feature a pinging device on the ROV (or other subsea asset) and a USBL (ultra short baseline) receive array on the top side to detect the 3 dimensional direction to the ROV. The time that the ping arrives at the top side USBL sensor determines the distance to the ROV. The different models within the Omnitrack and ROV Locator families differ in how they maintain timing synchronization between the ROV and the top side. See below for details.

Tracker 650 DVL can be used independently or as a supplement to a USBL system to provide high update rate velocity information for smooth seamless tracking of your ROV subsea position.

Omnitrack Mk III
Acoustic Synchronized

The Omnitrack Mk III uses the traditional duplex acoustic communication with a transceiver on the top side, and a transponder on the ROV. The top side pings first and when the transponder on the ROV detects the ping, it responds with a ping back to the surface. With this duplex acoustic communication, the two ends do not require clock synchronization. Omnitrack Mk III can be used on any vehicle. The only connection to the transponder on the ROV is electrical power.

Omnitrack Mk V
Ethernet Synchronized

The Omnitrack Mk V utilizes its Ethernet interface to synchronized clocks between the top side and ROV over the network, so an Ethernet connection to the ROV is required. The transmitter on the ROV and the receiver on the top side must both be connected to this network.
