Description
The Manifold 5L is a 5-port POE Ethernet switch. It has six 10mm penetration openings. Power is supplied through the main port, and power is passed through to each of the other four ports through self-resettable fuses. The fuses prevent a short in a connected device from frying circuit board traces or cabling.
There are two configurations of the Manifold 5L: basic and basic + tether interface.
The basic switch supports most Ethernet-based ROV add-ons, including one or more Cerulean Sonar OmniScan, Cerulean Sonar DVL-75, Cerulean Sonar Tracker-650 DVL, Cerulean Sonar multibeam echo sounders (MBES), Cerulean Sonar ROV Locator transmitter or receiver, Blue Robotics Ping 360, and so on.
With the tether interface option, the Manifold series supports an RAK tether interface compatible with the Fathom-X tether drivers used on Blue Robotics BlueROVs. This allows the tether to connect through the Manifold instead of into the ROV’s main electronics enclosure. If used in this way, the switch consumes net zero penetrator holes in the ROV’s main electronics enclosure. If the BAR30 is also moved to the switch (Manifold 5S only), an additional ROV penetrator opening is made available. The Fathom-X board and any Ethernet switch in the main enclosure can typically be eliminated.
